On this day and always…

“Give thanks for unknown blessings already on their way.” Native American saying
In mid-August of 2023, I stood on the land of the Blackfeet in northern Montana for the second time. For whatever unexplainable reason it is like being home. The energy pulsating from the Earth surrounded me again. And peace and calm filled me. A knowing. Blessings on their way.
Meandering, we came upon this incredible replica of a painted lodge or tipi. The designs on each dwelling represent both the spiritual experiences of the Blackfeet culture and the owner. Home is a dwelling, a place. Home is where your people are. Home is in your heart.
As this Thanksgiving evening draws to a close I take in the day’s last hour in silence. This structure took a long time to feel like home. The filling needed to happen first. Filling of events. Filling of family and friends. Filling of memories on the calendar.
Filling this home tonight are my people. Under one roof. So rare. My 88-year-old Dad. My four-month old grandson. My husband. My daughter and her husband. My son and his finance (and their “pup”). Blessings on this day and always. In my heart always. May we honor the gift of blessings on their way.
